Donald F. Carnes

headshotDon practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship. He is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.

Don enjoys working with families and individuals to plan for the future through estate planning, to handle the many tasks of administering an estate, or to deal with the special challenges of caring for a disabled or elderly family member. He is frequently appointed by the Judge of the Probate Court to serve as attorney ad litem, guardian ad litem or a personal representative in estate and guardianship proceedings.

Don attended Cornell University and the University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate, the University of Texas for a graduate degree and the University of Texas School of Law for his law degree. He never really left the Forty Acres as he now resides within earshot of the carillon in the Tower.

Don has served as President of the Board of Family Eldercare, Inc., and Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Travis County (now Austin) Bar Association. Additionally, he has served on the Board of Family Eldercare and the Capital Area Parkinson’s Society, and is currently on the Board of the Autism Society of Central Texas and the St. Edward’s University Gift Planning Advisory Council. Away from work, Don is an avid runner and formerly served as Chief Referee for the Southwest Lacrosse Officials Association.
